Iasi is a city in the north-east of Romania. It is the capital of the Iasi County and the seat of the Iasi Municipality. Iasi has a population of 320,000 inhabitants, making it the second most populous city in Romania after Bucharest. The first documented mention of the city's name Iași is from 1643, when the ruler of Moldavia, Vasile Lupu, mentioned it in a letter to the sultan of the Ottoman Empire.

The city of Heraklion is located on the north coast of the island of Crete, in Greece. It is the largest city on the island, and one of the largest in Greece. Heraklion was founded in the 9th century BC, and has been a major center of culture and commerce ever since. The city is home to many ancient ruins, including the Palace of Knossos, which is believed to be the site of the legendary labyrinth of King Minos.
